Get Whisprompt on Android
Android, Android TV and the tablet build are in Play closed testing. A place is taken rather than asked for — nobody has to approve you and there is nothing to wait for. Two steps, about two minutes.
- Step 1
Join the tester group
The tester list is a public Google Group. Open it and press Join group. Nothing is ever posted to it — it exists so that Play knows who is on the test.
Open the tester groupgroups.google.com/g/whisprompt-alpha
- Step 2
Become a tester on Play
Now open Play’s opt-in page and accept. The order matters: that page turns away an account the track does not already carry, which is why the group has to come first.
Open the opt-in pageplay.google.com/apps/testing/com.leonidus.whisprompt
From here Google Play offers Whisprompt like any other app — search it, install it, and updates arrive on their own. The listing can take a few minutes to appear the first time.
- Step 3 · optional
Put Pro through its paces, free
Everyone on the tester list gets Play’s test payment methods, so the whole production layer can be exercised without money changing hands.
- Nothing is charged. Play offers “Test card, always approves” — and a declining one, if you want to watch how the app handles a refusal.
- Renewal is compressed, so a subscription can be watched rolling over rather than imagined: a monthly plan renews every 5 minutes, a yearly one every 30.
- A test subscription renews six times and then ends by itself.
Real orders, real receipts, real entitlements — no real money.
If Whisprompt does not appear
Nine times in ten it is the account: check that Google Play on the device is signed in as the one that joined the group. Otherwise give it a few minutes and open the opt-in page again — it says plainly whether you are a tester yet.
If Google says you are not a member of any groups
That means the account switched and the destination did not. Changing account inside Google Groups drops you on your own group list, which is empty for an account that has never joined anything — so it reads like a dead end when it is only a wrong turn. Nothing is broken: come back here and press the step 1 button again, now that the right account is the active one.
Leaving the test
Open the opt-in page again and leave the programme. The build already on the device keeps working; Play simply stops offering updates until there is a public release. Your scripts are on your device either way.
